TWO KINDS OF INSOMNIA

Insomnia is a sleep disorder symptom that causes persistent difficulty with falling or staying asleep. If you struggle to consistently get a good night’s rest, watch this video to learn about the types of insomnia.

There are two kinds of insomnia. The first type, acute insomnia, occurs when the individual has a known triggering factor. This insomnia lasts for less than one month. The second type, called chronic insomnia, is when the sleep disorder’s symptoms last for more than a month. Chronic insomnia can be further broken down. These types include insomnia due to medical disorders, insomnia due to mental disorders, and adjustment, psychophysiological, and paradoxical insomnia categories.
